Politics

Politics is a social construct. However, it encompasses expressions of all of the archetypal constructs described in these papers.

OPEN VS. CLOSED REFERENCE FRAMES

CLOSED FRAME:
In a closed frame, there are finite resources (flat earth) and land becomes the most precious possession.
Self/Other orientation becomes dominant. War at boundaries (Countries), Eugenics aptly describes internal tactics (Buck v Bell 1927).

OPEN FRAME:
Experience of personal essence connected to a system extending beyond physical limitations, opening the possibility for compassion and caring for all human beings, and even for all Living Things.

The extent of development of social infrastructure and its maintenance condition is a good indicator of the degree to which a society is operating from an open reference frame (common good vs rugged self-reliance). This discussion is captured in the discussion of the “Tragedy of the Commons“.
